Instagram Reels: How they can help you grow your business today

 

Happy Wednesday everyone! It’s Emily again, and I am ready to tell you ALL about Instagram Reels - the fastest way you can grow your business through social media. These short video clips, similar to TikToks, now have the power to reach thousands, even millions, of people in just one day. However, there are many factors that go into a reel before it has the chance of going viral. Let’s talk about how a reel going viral can grow your business by reaching new eyes, and how you can incorporate this into your social media today.

First of all, why does a reel going viral matter in the first place? A viral reel simply brings new eyes to your company’s product or whatever you are promoting in that reel. When growing your business through social media, it is important to stay in line with current trends so you do not fall behind, and right now, reels are the future of Instagram. Read below for tips on how to create a reel that has the potential to go viral and reach the most eyes possible.

  • Create quality content for your reel. Whether you use an iPhone or a professional camera, you want your video to be clear and have good lighting. Quality is not about the piece of equipment you use for the video. The sharpness and cleanliness of your subject as well as your background matter just as much. 

  • Add value to your reel. Make sure you are offering your audience valuable information or tips that will make them want to keep following you for more content. Show your audience through your video what your company has to offer, such as how and why your product works and how it will change your consumer's life. 

  • Use video clips for your reels with movement rather than stagnant, flashing photos. This is much more interesting to a viewer and allows for more transitions.

  • Find a video editing app that you are comfortable with to edit your reels. We love Videoleap and use it for all of our clients’ reels. However, you can always use the in-app tools from Instagram.

  • Within the editing app, be sure to add text overlay to your reels that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, if you feel your video needs it. Text can be used to add further description or present the name of a product. Along with text, don’t forget transitions to add depth to your video.

  • Include a hook at the beginning of your video to keep your audience watching. Some examples of hooks are: “Five ways to…”, “Watch this if you… (insert your niche)”, “A sneak peek into our Fall 2022 launch…”, etc.

  • Finally and most importantly, use trending audio on Instagram. Instagram is more likely to push out a reel if it is using audio that currently has lots of views. You can tell audio is trending by clicking on the audio name, and seeing the number of reels that have been used with the sound. We typically look for audios with at least 10k views. Keep in mind that you want your audio to match your video. You wouldn’t choose an upbeat, rap audio with a peaceful video of coffee on a rainy morning.

Now, sit back and watch your reels reach more eyes! It is important to keep in mind that consistency and patience are key to growth. Change won’t happen overnight, but once you create that one reel that reaches thousands of eyes, you will see a shift in views on your page. Disclaimer - with an influx of views and followers from a viral reel, do not be alarmed if you see your followers plateau a couple of weeks after.
