Why your engagement is low
Social media engagement is an important part of any social media marketing campaign and should be monitored closely. Your social media engagement rate is simply the percentage of people who have seen your content and interact by either leaving a comment, liking the post or sharing it.
Ideally, when measuring social media engagement, posts should get an average of 1% engagement. So if 100 people see your posts, 1 person should engage with the post (AT LEAST.) If your social media engagement metrics show an engagement rate that is consistently low, there could be a number of reasons why.
You are not using the right social network(s).
You do not need to be on every social media platform in order to be successful. You want to be sure to fine tune your social media marketing plan. First, decide who your audience is. This can help narrow down which network you may want to focus on and really pour time and money into. It is also important to optimize what you are posting and where you are posting it. What works for Instagram does not necessarily work for LinkedIn.
2. You are not using a CTA (call to action)
Including a CTA is beneficial for you because it tells your audience what to do and gives them a reason as to why they should do it. Your call to action could lead people to your website, phone number, email or even your online store. Whatever it is, it should drive people to your company and make them want to become your customer or client.
3. You aren’t engaging/responding enough.
Engagement with your audience is super important! Establishing a relationship with your customers is KEY!
4. Your targeting ins’t specific enough.
Targeting is crucial. Target the wrong audience and the whole ad will flop.
5. You’re not utilizing the different types of content.
Social media posts aren’t just limited to text and images. There are many other formats you can use to encourage engagement, like reels, videos, GIFs, and even memes (if appropriate.) Don't shy away from trying new things! You never know what's going to work until you test it.
